The Music Class - Glenwood Park
The Music Class is a research-based educational program designed to help parents enhance their child’s music development during the critical first years of life. In a survey we did of families 10 years after they were enrolled at The Music Class, 98% of our graduates reported that their experience in class provided a long term benefit - helping their child to more fully appreciate and enjoy music even ten years later! And 88% said it was easier for their child to learn to play a musical instrument compared to other children of the same age.
While our focus is on music development, our programs also help with social and intellectual development. What a bonus! Hotoberfest is a one-day event promoting the preservation of our precious Earth, appreciation of craft beers and celebration of live music, featuring Beer Tasting in our OctoberFest-style Beer Garten with over 120 Craft Beers from around the world. VIP Green Ticket option allows access to specialty beers that are not included in the Beer Garten (as well as other VIP benefits). We'll have live music from some of the areas favorite bands and local DJs, so come out and celebrate!

Why Proper Disposal of Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs is Important
You've probably been buying fluorescent light bulbs because they are energy-efficient, lasting up to three times longer than incandescent bulbs. That's the upside. The downside is they contain more levels of mercury; when they burn out, they should not be thrown in the trash to go out with the regular trash. WHY?
- The mercury from one fluorescent bulb can pollute 6,000 gallons of water beyond safe levels for drinking.
- Each year, an estimated 600 million fluorescent lamps are disposed of in U.S. landfills amounting up to 30,000 pounds of mercury waste.
- In America, one in six children born every year have been exposed to mercury levels so high that they are potentially at risk for learning disabilities, motor skill impairment and short-term memory loss.
- In 1992, mercury-containing lamps were added to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) list of hazardous substances. (The EPA's regulatory threshold of 2mg/liter is usually exceeded by mercury-containing lamps. See this link for more information.)
