Hawk Sightings
Has anyone seen the hawks that were released at the Grand Opening?
Will they actually stay around Glenwood Park? Do they have names?

Cristell Whitfield writes (July 20, 2005): I did see one of the hawks the morning after the grand opening. It was hanging out between my house and the Bitler's house. I spooked it and it flew smack into the Mitchell's window across the street. It sat for a few minutes, then took flight and headed toward East Lake. My husband has seen one a few times flying around as well.

Mayor Shirley Franklin and Charles Brewer released two hawks at the Glenwood Park Grand Opening on June 18, 2005. Both birds will receive free accommodations overlooking Glenwood park in return for hunting and aerobatic performance responsibilites. The hawks were released with the assistance of Amicalola State Park raptor rehabilitator Lauretta Dean and her twin sister.
